Alaska Fashion = Casual

Read: Anything usually goes, from sport coat & slacks or skirt & sweater to jeans, tennies, and sweatshirt.

Dinners Out: Most places in Anchorage  are fairly casual, but you may wish to bring along an outfit that is dressier than jeans for special occasions.

Outside Anchorage: All places are even more casual!!

• Day Pack or Belt Bag
• Binoculars
• Camera & LOTS of Film/Memory Cards
• Movie Camera (Optional, but the only way to
capture some of the landscapes you’ll see!)

• Motion Sickness Patches or Wrist Bands

them…but you can rent most all; or, guided
trips generally provide gear—be sure to ask!)

On the Water

Alaskan water comes straight from Glaciers. It does not warm up much until it hits Hawaii!  If you will be doing anything on or near any body of water, bring long johns and/or wind-rain pants to insure you stay warm enough to enjoy yourself.

Weather in Alaska

It is very changeable in any one place and from seacoast to mountain top.

They only send new weather forecasters here—to humble them…

Don’t take anything for granted…It is always better to have more gear than you need than not enough.

Money in Alaska

Major credit cards are honored almost everywhere.  American Express is not always used in smaller establishments.

Cash machines are on almost every corner.

Checks work in most retail places as well.
